Dentistry FAQ’s

Achieving and maintaining optimal dental health is important to your overall well-being. No matter your age, routine visits are essential for keeping your teeth and gums in excellent shape. In general, most people should see the dentist two to four times a year, depending on their individual needs, for a professional cleaning and exam. If any dental procedures are needed, those appointments should be scheduled in addition to your routine visits. Just like adults, children should also visit the dentist twice a year starting at the age of one. Regular dental visits allow us to evaluate your mouth and detect and treat any impending problems early – which can result in simple and affordable treatment.
No matter how long it has been since your last dental visit, you can expect that your appointment at Birchwood Dental will be friendly, educational, and beneficial. Your initial visit will consist of completing paperwork, taking dental X-rays (if needed), and having a professional cleaning and oral exam. Following your cleaning and exam, you will have an open conversation with Dr. Holdaway about the status of your dental health. At the end of your appointment, you will have an opportunity to schedule your next visit.
Regular dental visits help us keep your mouth, teeth, and gums healthy. Maintaining your oral health is important because it can directly impact your overall health. A healthy mouth is a good indication that the rest of your body is also healthy. At Birchwood Dental, we are truly concerned about your overall well-being, and we provide helpful guidance to help keep your mouth healthy and content.
At Birchwood Dental, we utilize modern dental technology to deliver the high-quality services. This includes using digital dental X-rays. If you are concerned about the safety of dental X-rays, rest assured that the equipment used in our office is safe for patients of all ages including children. X-rays provide the doctor with an invaluable glimpse into your teeth and jaw that would otherwise be impossible to see. Even though dental X-rays are safe, we only recommend them when they are needed.
One size never fits all when it comes to dentistry. Every person is unique and requires individualized care. As a patient of Birchwood Dental, you can expect to be treated like an important member of our dental office family. We are committed to your satisfaction, and we do everything possible to make sure your visit is calm, relaxing, and tailored to your needs. We strive to give you the one-on-one attention you deserve.
You know what dentists say: “Brush and floss twice a day!” Most people understand the importance of regular brushing and flossing, but there are also several other ways to take care of your teeth in between dental appointments. We recommend that you eat a healthy diet, limit the amount of soda or sugary and acidic beverages you drink, avoid using your teeth as a tool to open or break things, stop any smoking or tobacco use, and drink plenty of water each day. Next time you’re in the office, ask us for additional tips on how to take excellent care of your teeth. We appreciate the opportunity to share our dental knowledge and to help keep your teeth healthy and strong.
Please call the office if you are experiencing pain. We provide high-quality, urgent care to anyone who is in need, and we do our best to accommodate dental emergencies quickly. Same-day appointments are often available for non-emergencies as well. We look forward to seeing you in the office soon!
